Anita started her musical journey at a very young age. She was born in Chattanooga, TN to Christian parents who told her she was either
singing or humming before she could even talk. After moving to California - where she was raised on the Monterey Peninsula -
Anita came to realize the love she had for music. And gospel music, in particular, really got under her skin. Growing up
"in the church" presented an opportunity to hear and sing some of the most powerful songs known to man. But it also brought
an understanding of just how inspiring and life changing the gospel message could be, even through song.
While in Monterey,
Anita sang in her church choirs as well as community groups, including the former Edwin Hawkins Youth &
Young Adult Mass Choir and an ensemble called Dedicated To Christ. She participated in her fair share of talent shows and
won the NAACP ACT-SO competition (in both vocal performance and music composition). Determined not to neglect her
formal education, Anita completed both a B.A. in Psychology and an M.B.A. with an emphasis in Marketing.
Her debut
CD, entitled "R U Willing," is an independent effort that garnered attention at the 7th Annual Independent Music Awards (IMAs) receiving
a nod as finalist for "Best Gospel Album." The CD was produced by Bill Moss, Jr. (Byron Cage, Kelly Price, J Moss). All songs
were written or co-written by Anita Myles except He's My Light which is a new arrangement of a Mahalia Jackson classic.
Anita
has had the honor and pleasure of singing at the 1st Annual Monterey Gospel Festival opening for Martha Munizzi; participating in
the new artist showcase at Kim Burrell's Ephesians 4 Conference in Atlanta; collaborating with other artists and continuing to hone
her gifts.
Anita's testimony is one that is filled with great insight, humor, compassion and gratefulness. But this page
alone cannot contain that story. What Anita hopes to do most through her music and her ministry is to touch, inspire and motivate
people. Her delivery and style brings a new approach to gospel and her authenticity is something that is sorely needed
and missing.
